Marhaban Ya Marhaban

The ramadhan has began today meanwhile I'm not in a well condition. Even so I woke up this morning at 3.30 am to make sahur. I wasn't sure if I was going to fast today but I got sahur just in case.

I'm not sure what I should say in English for sahur, some people call it breakfast but it's that too early for breakfast? My hubby asked how come people have breakfast at 3am? Well, we did, many Moslems did.

It's a culture that the day before Ramadhan we should ask for forgiveness to people we know. As far as I know, I only asked forgiveness on my status Facebook, and I think twitter as well.

At age late 30s like me, I don't find Ramadhan as excited as when I was very young. Perhaps it because I live in the individual environment for very long time or might just people don't like being disturb by the noise from a group of people who try to wake for sahur?

Oh yeah, I used to wake up by their shouting, they walked around my neighborhoods and bringing some tools to make noise. Nobody would be angry at them, even they did at 2am in the morning! Even the opposite, neighbors who fasting would get upset if they didn't hear the noise at sahur time.

I've been doing the fasting in Ramadhan for many years. My training for fasting was began when I was 5 years old. Not full fasting though, only from before sunrise until afternoon. They told us the training should made us stronger to have the full fasting, from before sunrise until sunset.

Sahur itself starts from 3-4.30 am, during the day is the hardest one, specially if you live in tropical country like Indonesia. Many restaurants would close during the day, but in many malls some restaurants might still open.

Ramadhan has given impact in many moslem life. We have so many things to believe, like do more good things during this holly month. I grew up to believe that all satan are tighten in hell during Ramadhan.

Just like what mom used to say: "we should be glad to be given another Ramadhan". It means we should be happy God give us a chance to be better person this year.

In a year of our life at least we have one month to 'clean' ourselves from wrong doings and that is the holly month of Ramadhan.

Nice saying shows your character but that doesn't mean you can criticize. You can still do both in nice and polite way.
